How to choose mold material pp silicone or rubber?
Jun 21, 2023| Silicone rubber is an elastic material known for its high temperature resistance, chemical resistance, and excellent aging properties. The advantages of silicone rubber molds include:
1.High precision: Silicone rubber molds have outstanding elasticity and precise recovery, enabling the production of high-precision bricks.
2.Durability: Silicone rubber molds have excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance, allowing them to withstand long-term use without deformation or damage.
3.High-temperature performance: Silicone rubber materials can withstand high temperatures, making them useful in processes that involve high-temperature treatment.
However, silicone rubber molds also have some limitations:
1.Higher cost: Silicone rubber is a relatively expensive material, resulting in higher manufacturing costs for silicone rubber molds.
2.Longer manufacturing cycle: The production time for silicone rubber molds is longer due to the complex mold manufacturing process.
In comparison, polypropylene (PP) rubber is a relatively inexpensive and commonly used material for brick mold manufacturing. PP rubber molds have the following characteristics:
1.Low cost: Compared to silicone rubber molds, PP rubber molds have lower manufacturing costs because PP materials are relatively affordable.
2.Shorter manufacturing cycle: The manufacturing process for PP rubber molds is relatively simple, resulting in shorter production cycles.
3.Durability: PP rubber molds have good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, meeting the general requirements for brick molds.
However, PP rubber molds also have some limitations:
1.Lower precision: Compared to silicone rubber molds, PP rubber molds have relatively lower precision and may not be suitable for high-precision brick manufacturing.
2.Temperature limitations: PP rubber has lower temperature resistance and cannot withstand high-temperature treatments, limiting its use in high-temperature production processes.
In summary, silicone rubber molds are suitable for high-precision and high-temperature brick mold manufacturing, while PP rubber molds are suitable for general applications that do not require high precision or involve high temperatures.
