2) Embossing. The so-called relief sculpture is the product of the combination of sculpture and painting, and the object is treated with compression. Reliefs are generally attached to another plane, and are used more in architecture, and can often be seen on utensils. 3) Openwork. The relief carving without the bottom plate is called openwork, also known as openwork carving.
