How to install brick mold

Measure and Cut: Measure the dimensions of the door or window frame where you will be installing the brick mold. Use these measurements to cut the brick mold pieces to the appropriate length using a saw.

Prep the Area: Ensure that the area where you will be installing the brick mold is clean and free from any debris or obstructions. Remove any old or damaged moldings.

Position the Brick Mold: Hold the cut pieces of brick mold against the door or window frame, aligning them with the edges. Make sure they fit properly and are level and plumb. Use a level and a carpenter's square to ensure accuracy.

Secure the Mold: Use finishing nails or screws to secure the brick mold to the frame. Place the nails or screws approximately every 12 inches, ensuring they penetrate into the framing behind the mold.

Check for Proper Alignment: Double-check the alignment and spacing of the brick mold to ensure it is straight and evenly spaced. Make any adjustments as necessary before proceeding.

Fill Nail Holes: Fill the nail or screw holes with wood filler or putty. Smooth the filler with a putty knife and allow it to dry. Sand the filled areas to achieve a smooth finish.

Prime and Paint: Prime the brick mold with a suitable primer to enhance its durability and adhesion of the paint. Once the primer is dry, apply a coat or two of paint in your desired color, allowing sufficient drying time between coats.

Finishing Touches: After the paint has dried completely, inspect the installation for any gaps or imperfections. Apply caulk or sealant along the edges of the brick mold to seal any gaps and provide a finished appearance.
