How is stamped concrete used?
You can sprinkle powdered release agent on the surface of the concrete stamp ahead of time. Once your concrete has been installed and the concrete has reached its optimal setting, you can start stamping. (approximately at the broom stage) place them on the surface to be stamped, then place the seamless texture mats on top of these.
It doesn't take a lot of force to press the pad into the wet concrete. Since time is of the essence in decorative stamping, you should start immediately and keep going. Coat your stamps with release powder after each use.
Bubblegum liquid releases can be used as an alternative to powder releases. Bubble Gum Liquid Release is an easier, cleaner method, but doesn't leave behind the secondary distressed highlights achievable with the powder method.
The decorative concrete should then be left to sit for at least 24 hours.
At the end of this period, excess powder release (if used) should be washed from the concrete surface. About 15-20% of the colored release agent will adhere to the concrete.
Let it dry and seal with a good quality concrete sealer. The sealer brings out the rich color and prevents the color from fading and staining.
